John Meade, 71 of Dermott, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2023, at St. Vincent Infirmary. He was a retiree of United Parcel Service (UPS) and a member of Brown Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Portland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Charlene Stubblefield Meade; one daughter, Veronica Nicole Meade; two brothers, Clarence Lee “Sonny” Meade and Charles Lee Meade; and five sisters, Lillian Calloway, Beatrice Brewer, Bernice Meadows, Johnnie Sanders, and Alberta Stapleton.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Aretta Meade; two daughters, Dr. Yolaundra Yvonne Meade-Williams of Little Rock and Brooke Leeann Avery of Dermott; one son, Johnathan Rashad Meade of Warren, Mich.; four stepdaughters, Whitney Nicole Easterling Baldwin and Britney Shantel Avery, both of Little Rock, Portia Lasha Heileman of Forney, Texas, and Olivia Danielle Avery; sisters, Leaster Gardner and Brenda Maddox; and 13 grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 12 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Dermott with Rev. Kentrell Woods officiating. Burial will be in Portland #2 Cemetery.
