James Franklin Bost Jr., 81, of Lake Village died Monday, May 15, 2023 at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville, Miss. He was born Sept. 30, 1941 in Cleveland, Miss., was a graduate of Delta State University, and served in the United States Navy. He formerly worked for US Steel Inc. and he operated the Handy Corner convenient store in Lake Village for several years.
He was a member of Jennie Baptist Church and a former member of Glory Bound Sunday school class at Cedarview Baptist Church in Olive Branch, Miss.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Franklin Bost Sr. and Gladys Evelyn Moore Bost; his wife, Mary Janeth Bost; one stepdaughter, Rhonda Barbee; one brother, William Paul “Billy” Bost; and one stepson, Kenneth Armstrong.
Survivors include one son, Gary Layne Bost of Battle Creek, Mich.; one daughter, Kristin Gann of Knoxville, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Janeffer Graham and Lori Armstrong; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were the members of the men’s Sunday school class at Jennie Baptist Church and of the Glory Bound Sunday school class.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 18 at Jennie Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Wetzler and Rev. Matt Moore officiating. Arrangements were by Griffin-Culpepper Funeral.
