The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming election is Tuesday, October 9.
In Chicot County Dwight W. Bruce will run against current Sheriff Ronald Nichols for the position of Chicot County sheriff.
This year’s ballot also includes the races for mayor and city council seats in Dermott, Lake Village and Eudora and races for city clerk in Dermott and Lake Village.
In Eudora, Johnathan Patrick, Kayla Pitts, Travis Collins, George Kincade and Frank Farris, all independent candidates, will appear on the ballot to run for mayor.
The city of Lake Village also has multiple candidates who filed to run for the mayor’s position. Joe Dan Yee, W. Stacey Gillison, Johnny Redman Jr., Beulah Johnson and Mary Colbert will all be on the ballot for Lake Village mayor. Jordyn Williams and Deborah Oswalt will run for the position of Lake Village city clerk. Sam E. Angel II will run against Antonio Rucker for Ward 1, Position 2 on the Lake Village city council. Adrian Wilson-Clark, Ruth O’Loughlin and Carli Edwards will all race for Ward 3 Position 2 on the Lake Village council.
The Dermott mayor, Clinton Hampton, filed to run to maintain his position, but two independent candidates, Walter Donald and Edmond Lee Shelton will run against him.
Anthony L. Scott will run against Curtis Graham for Ward 1 Position 2 on the Dermott city council. Helen King will run against Pamela Esters for Ward 2 Position 1 on Dermott City Council and Robbin Hawkins-Cook will run against Julia Wimberly Harden for Ward 3 Position 2 on Dermott City Council.
Evelyn Wimbley will run against Kristen “Janae” Bailey for the position of Dermott city clerk.
Election Day is November 6 with early voting opening later this month.
