There were several items on the agenda for Lake Village city council members Tuesday, March 5, including airport related changes, a tennis team, and private clubs within city limits.
After the monthly reports, the first item up was for the renewal of the airport lease and airport custodial agreement. In the agreement the lessee would be obligated to pay an increase .05 cents per square foot to a total of .13 cents.
The lease is also being written to reflect a change of term for the property from 10 years to 20 years. The motion passed.
Linda Haddock of Lake Village was voted onto the Airport Commission due to the resignation of Stacy Gillison.
Resolution 03-19, a resolution honoring the Lakeside High School boys doubles tennis team was read. A motion was made to approve the resolution; it passed.
Next on the agenda was Ordinance 02-19, an ordinance pertaining to the operating of private clubs within the city limits. The council room was filled with people as the members discussed the proposed ordinance which would restrict private clubs within city limits to limit their hours of operation from 11 a.m. until midnight (12 a.m.). According to this, 02-19 would also require the facilities to be vacated by 12:30 a.m.
There were two motions made during the discussion. The first motion made was to not adopt the ordinance. This motion passed. After more discussion, another motion was made to accept the ordinance. This time 02-19 passed.
