Chicot County’s Rev. R.C. Barnes will be one of finalists in this year’s Great SEARK Talent Hunt Showcase Saturday, April 24 at 2 p.m. at UAM Cotton Boll Stadium.

The top finalist from each of the area’s seven counties will be competing for the grand prize.  

Celebrity judges for the event will be Christian singer/songwriter David Leonard, Fox 16 Newscaster Donna Terrell, and American Idol Contestant Ryan Harmon.

Leonard (formerly of All Sons and Daughters) will also host a bonus concert Friday night at 7 p.m. by Weevil Pond. 

A second bonus concert by the Rodney Block Collective, offering professional jazz music, will be held just before the showcase Saturday at 12:30 p.m. on the UAM football field.

First place winners other than Barnes who will be competing in the showcase include Chester Huntsman of Ashley County; Gwendolyn White of Bradley County; Wayne Gross of Cleveland County; “Desha Three” featuring Kaniyah Davis, Azaria Campbell, and Houston Holley of  Desha County; Mark Kelly of Drew County; and Braden Hunter of Lincoln County.

Organizers noted that masks are required on campus and the Clear Bag Policy will be enforced.
