A Eudora man was arrested in Ashley County after allegedly stabbing a man to death in Pine Street Park in Hamburg.
Erskine Flamer Jr., 24, of Eudora is currently in the custody of Ashley County Detention Center for allegedly murdering 25-year-old Deunte Stanley Sunday.
Janice Williams who lives near the park said she was over at a neighbor’s house enjoying a fish fry when she heard someone scream “fight.”
“But you know, you hear fight all the time, but after that they said someone was down so I walked over there,” Williams said.
Williams said she walked over to see if she could help in any way, but once she got there the young man was already on the ground gasping for air as a young lady applied pressure.
“I just walked around praying, praying that this young man’s life wouldn’t be taken.”
Flamer allegedly left the park following the incident and was apprehended about an hour later. Police reported that he had discarded the weapon used, but said they located it later.
Police Chief Johnny Oliver said that Stanley was transported to Ashley County Medical Center where he later died from a single stab wound to the upper abdomen. Oliver said on Monday that Flamer was in custody and that Judge Reid Harrod had set his bond at $250,000. Flamer is being charged with First Degree Murder and tampering with evidence.
